16th Annual International Competition Network (ICN) Conference in Proto
Professor Hildebrand attended the 16th Annual ICN Conference in Porto as a NGA of the German Bundeskartellamt.
Once again Professor Hildebrand took the opportunity to attend the annual ICN Conference as a Non-Governmental Adviser (NGA) upon invitation of the German Bundeskartellamt (BKartA).
The well recognized annual ICN conference offers competition authorities as well as NGAs a solid platform to share experiences and discuss topics of mutual interest face-to-face. The conference strives to enhance the cooperation among competition authorities through identifying common challenges and finding paths which lead to global convergence and mutual understanding on issues of competition policy.
This year’s conference host between 10th and 12th of Mai in Porto was the Portuguese competition authority (Autoridade Da Concorrencia). Among the more than 600 participants were beside national and international authorities also representatives of the private sector as well as economic experts.
At the Annual Conference, the past year’s working products were approved, including new recommended practices for merger review, addressing notification thresholds, remedies and efficiencies. Professor Hildebrand is a member of the unilateral conduct working group. Further working products include guiding principles for market studies, a report on setting cartel fines and several reports on agencies’ use of social media.
